Hosta 'Unsung Hero' is a Hans Hansen introduction named in honor of one of his mentors, the late Dr. Herb Benedict. Hosta 'Unsung Hero' is a unique butterscotch-edged sport of one of Dr. Benedict's most famous introductions, Hosta 'Bridegroom'. Our plants of Hosta 'Unsung Hero' form 1' tall x 2' wide distinctive-looking clumps. The unique dark green foliage has the same twisted and raised leaf tip of its parent but each leaf is also edged with a nice butterscotch border, brightest in early spring. In midsummer, the clumps are topped with 2' tall spikes of large, dark purple flowers.
