I nearly wet my plants when I saw this exciting new hosta on a 2013 trip to Walters Gardens...not that I have a thing for mini-skirts, you understand. Hosta 'Mini Skirt', the 2024 American Hosta Society Grower Association Hosta of the Year, is a Hosta 'Blue Mouse Ears' sport, via Hosta 'Church Mouse', discovered by hosta breeder Hans Hansen. The 7" tall x 14" wide clump is composed of grey-green leaves, each surrounded by a wide, heavily-ruffled, creamy white border and topped in summer with short 8" spikes of small lavender flowers...a truly amazing dwarf hosta!
