For those hosta species collectors, here is a plant that you rarely see... the true Hosta fluctuans. This is NOT related to H. 'Sagae' (formerly H. fluctuans 'Variegata). This species from the Amori Prefecture in Japan makes a medium sized clump to 70" wide. Each green leaf has a glossy top and a rough bottom due to the protruding veins. The plants are topped with light lavender flowers in early summer.
