Just about the time you think there can't be another unique sport of Hosta sieboldiana 'Elegans', along comes Hosta 'Barbara Ann'. This newest twist comes from Muton's Microplants in the UK where it was discovered by two lab technicians, Barbara and Ann. Introduced to commerce by England's Park Green Nursery, Hosta 'Barbara Ann' makes a stunning clump of corrugated blue-grey leaves, surrounded by a very wide, pure white border with a tetraploid look. The sturdy, 3-4' wide clumps are topped in late spring with 2' tall spikes of pure white flowers. It appears to be quite distinct from Hosta 'Northern Halo' and its offspring.
