This stunning mutation of H. 'Gold Regal' has been one of the most sought-after hostas since its introduction in 1989. Gardeners who were lucky enough to secure a piece were hesitant to share. Just like its parent, H. 'Alex Summers' makes a nearly perfect, upright, 3' wide clump of dark green leaves with a contrasting, wide golden border. In July in NC, the clumps are topped by sturdy, attractive flower scapes of lavender. Yes, this is named after our friend and one of the founding members of the American Hosta Society.
