(aka: Brakelights Hesperaloe) Hesperaloe 'Perpa' is the first cloned selection of drought-tolerant Texas native Hesperaloe parviflora from plantsman Ron Gass of Arizona's Mountain States Nursery. Hesperaloe 'Perpa' is a rather compact-growing hesperaloe with thick, glaucous green leaves that top out at 18" tall. The tight clumps are topped with 42" spikes, ending in brilliant scarlet red flowers starting in early June (NC). Important safety tip...be sure to provide sunglasses for your hummingbirds when they're foraging.
