We received this fascinating selection of the oriental swamp pink from Georgia plantsman Ozzie Johnson, who brought it back from Japan. For us, Heloniopsis orientalis 'Flash Dance', which we named in 2014, has made a delightful, easy-to-grow, 2" tall x 1' wide clump of green and cream striped basal leaves in our bog. In March (NC), the 2" tall clumps are topped with 3" tall spikes terminating in airy balls of creamy white flowers. Moist but well-drained soils are the secret for success with heloniopsis.
