(aka: Helleborus COSEH 710) Helleborus 'Pink Frost' is one of the recent Helleborus niger hybrids to hit the market from the Heuger hellebore breeding program. Helleborus 'Pink Frost' is particularly vigorous and floriferous, beginning in mid-February when the outward-facing flowers open pink and age to a lovely dark pinkish-red. Helleborus 'Pink Frost' has been a favorite of all who've seen it!
Maintenance:
Helleborus 'Pink Frost' is a virtually maintenance free perennial. We like to remove the previous years foliage just as the plant begins to flower in late winter, but that's certainly optional. We feel like it gives the plant a better garden presentation, but removing the foliage that time of year has no effect of the plant. Because Pink Frost lenten rose is sterile, there is no need to remove the old flower stalks unless you just find them annoying.
Growing Conditions:
Helleborus 'Pink Frost' needs good drainage and light that ranges from open light shade to a couple of hours of morning sun. In darker shade, the plant growth simply isn't vigorous, and the flowering is diminished.
Natural Impact:
Pink Frost hellebore is pollinated by honeybees, which appreciate the nectar, which can be scarce in late winter.
