Hedychium thyrsiforme is a little-known Eastern Himalayan species (India, Nepal, Bhutan) that forms a compact 4' tall plant, topped in late summer (NC) with terminal clusters of narrow white petals and long protruding white filaments...quite unique and dainty compared to most hedychiums. Hedychium thyrsiforme prefers light shade, but will also tolerate a few hours of early morning sun.
