Rough gentian is one of the finest of the open-flowered Asian gentians that can be grown in hot climates. I've killed more gentians than is probably legal, but this one has been a dream come true. This amazing gem makes a small clump to 1' wide, topped starting in early September with the most beautiful royal blue flowers imaginable. Gentiana scabra prefers slightly moist but rich well drained soil for best performance.
