We have been thrilled at the performance of Erythronium 'Pagoda' in our trials. This wonderful hybrid of the West Coast native Erythronium tuolumnense and Erythronium revolutum emerges in mid-March (NC) with glossy green basal leaves. By early April, the flower spikes reach 8" tall, each carrying 3-5 large, pendent yellow flowers. By late May, the plants have gone dormant for the summer, opening up space for summer growers. Erythronium 'Pagoda' prefers rich, slightly moist soils, although it has been fairly drought tolerant in our trials.
