Echinocereus x roetteri is a spectacular, naturally-occurring hybrid (mountains of West Texas, New Mexico, and Northern Mexico) between two cold hardy barrel cactus, Echinocereus coccineus and Echinocereus dasyacanthus. The 6-8" tall stalks can either be solitary or basally branched, depending on the seedling. The large, bright pastel flowers, which adorn the clumps, starting for us in May, range from rosy pinks to fluorescent orange red and everything in between. Since each seedling is unique, you'll probably want more than one. Echinocereus x roetteri is very sensitive to overwatering, so in-ground plantings in rainy climates, require near perfect drainage...think crevice gardens.
