Echinacea 'Leilani', from the breeders at Terra Nova, has proven to be a real star in our trials. The 40" tall stems are very sturdy and don't fall over when topped by the large, 4.5" wide, bright yellow flowers starting in June (NC). As each crop of flowers finishes, cut the old stalks to the ground for great reflowering. As with all clonal coneflowers, cut all flower stalks to the ground when planting until a basal rosette of leaves is formed, and be sure the soil is well-drained.
