Disporum viridescens is an easy-to-grow (sometimes TOO easy-to-grow) fairy bell from southeast Asia. The 20" tall stalks of thumb-sized dark green leaves spread quickly via underground rhizomes to form an attractive large colony, so don't plant this near other valuable plants. The clumps are topped in early April (NC) with small, white pendent flowers. Growing Disporum viridescens is a lot like growing your own squash...once going, you can share and share and share...until your neighbors pretend they aren't home.
