Dianthus 'Maraschino' is a new Walters Gardens hybrid that's been a star in our heat and humidity tolerance trials. The 18" wide mound of dense silver foliage looks great all year. Starting for us in mid-April, the clumps are topped with a myriad of 10" tall stalks, each ending in 1.5" wide, sweetly fragrant scarlet red double flowers...quite a show. A haircut after flowering will usually result in some fall re-flowering. Dianthus 'Maraschino' has excellent drought tolerance and with plenty of sun and good drainage will be a star in your garden.
