This new introduction from Colorado's Plant Select program is named for the former horticulture director of the Denver Botanic Garden. D. 'John Proffitt' is a more vigorous alternative to the standard D. cooperi. The flat stems are adorned with fleshy green leaves, smothered in late spring with large, deep magenta-purple flowers. For a hot, dry location, Delosperma 'John Proffitt' is just what the plant doctor ordered.
