Cynanchum ascyrifolium is the Japanese cousin to Cynanchum acuminatifolium, with whom it is hopelessly mixed in the trade. Cynanchum ascyrifolium makes a more compact plant with darker green leaves, forming an 18" tall x 2' wide clump, topped, start for us in early May with clusters of white, star-shaped flowers that emerge from the leaf axils...much larger than those of Cynanchum acuminatifolium.
