Crinum macowanii 'Zambia' is a seed strain of the widespread African crinum lily from Zambia. The glaucous blue waxy foliage forms a huge 30" tall x 7' wide clump...the largest of any of the Crinum macowanii forms we've grown. The massive clumps are topped from late spring through September with 2' tall spikes of 11-13 maroon buds that open to chalice-shaped, faintly-scented white flowers with exterior burgundy keels. Although Crinum macowanii is very drought tolerant, the best flowering occurs when it is grown in very moist soils.
