Clematis hexapetala 'Mongolian Snowflakes' is an introduction from the late plant explorer Harlan Hamernik, who discovered this gem on a botanizing expedition in Mongolia. The amazing Clematis hexapetala 'Mongolian Snowflakes' is a perennial clematis with no vining skills whatsoever. Emerging in spring, the new growth, clothed in thumb-sized linear foliage, grows upward to 18" tall before arching to the ground and forming a 3' wide patch. The stems are laden near the tips with hundreds of six-petaled (i.e. hexapetala) white flowers from spring through summer...a truly amazing perennial. Despite its Mongolian upbringing, Clematis 'Mongolian Snowflakes' has shown incredible durability in our hot humid summers, even in our dry crevice garden.
