Calanthe 'Yellow Lipstics' is one of the new Japanese Lipstic strain of seed-grown hardy calanthe orchids, which include primary genes from Calanthe sieboldii, Calanthe kawakamii, Calanthe tricarinata, and Calanthe aristulifera. Calanthe tricarinata adds winter hardiness and lip color, while Calanthe kawakamii adds floral stalk height. Calanthe 'Yellow Lipstics' is most happy in average to slightly moist woodland conditions, where the large green, heavily-pleated, oval leaves lay flat on the ground. Topping the foliage in mid-spring are stalks that range from 2-3' tall, clothed toward the top with yellow flowers with reddish lips. We think you're really going to love these new hardy orchids.
