    (syn: B. ciliata f. ligulata, B. ligulata) Frankly, we know virtually nothing about this unusual bergenia that we acquired from China. Starting in 1826, when it was first described as a saxifrage, it has undergone 7 name changes and has somehow remained quite scarce. The clumps of round glossy green foliage is topped with short spikes of pink flowers in late winter or very early spring...only for gardeners who want to try something really new.
