The SC/GA native Baptisia perfoliata has long been the collectors' treasure in the genus baptisia, with its unique eucalyptus-like foliage, so we are pleased to introduce our second named clone in 2020. Baptisia 'Flying Saucers' is our seedling selection from 2003, but because of the difficulty in rooting this species, it's taken us a whopping 17 years to propagate adequate numbers to share. Baptisia 'Flying Saucers' forms a deciduous clump to 2' tall x 4' wide, densely clothed with small, saucer-shaped leaves (much smaller leaves than Baptisia 'Survivor'), each carefully threaded through the sturdy, but fleshy stems. The clumps are adorned with axillary yellow flowers, starting for us in mid-May.
