Baptisia 'Chrysalis' is a 2020 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of a 2007 seedling that has impressed us and visitors alike. In mid-May (NC), the new stalks emerge a dramatic dark dusky purple, eventually rising to 4' in height, before the 15" long flower stalks burst open with violet flowers. The parents of this cross include four North American native species, Baptisia alba, albescens, australis, and cinerea.
