We are pleased to share French plant explorer Cedric Basset's Chinese collection of Aspidistra sichuanensis, which hails from...where else, Sichuan, China. The 26" long, strongly arching green leaves are virtually unspotted, but with prominently raised dorsal leaf veins, unlike any of the other clones of Aspidistra sichuanensis we grow. The rosy red, small, pie-crusted flowers with a purple center can be found at ground level, starting for us in late March. Where it's not hardy outdoors, Aspidistra sichuanensis makes a tough-as-nails houseplant.
