(aka: Asarum rigescens 'Ise-jishi’) We are pleased to finally be able to share the rare Japanese double-flowered wild ginger, Asarum rigescens var. brachypodion 'Suzaku Botan'. This rarely cultivated species hails from woodlands in central Japan. For us, they have formed lovely 4" tall x 1' wide, tight clumps of green arrow-shaped leaves, with large ornate silver blotches. The tan/lavender flowers, produced at ground level in January and February, are uniquely double like a miniature rose.
