(aka: Asarum nipponicum PDN001) We haven't had enough Asarum nipponicum 'Milky Way' to share, since we first introduced it in 2001, so we are very pleased to finally list it again. The 6" tall x 1' wide clumps are composed of heart-shaped, dark green leaves, each highlighted by contrasting subtle silver veins. Asarum nipponicum 'Milky Way' is one of the hardiest evergreen wild gingers, thriving in woodland conditions from Zones 5-8. If you peak under its skirt of leaves, starting in mid-February (NC), you'll catch a glimpse of the unusual, small triangular purple-brown flowers with a central cream eyezone. It could well be another 15 years before we have enough to share again, so don't miss out.
