From northern Russia south to Italy, comes this fabulous evergreen, deer-resistant, groundcover wild ginger... a great "winter green" feature, especially prized in colder climates. The thick, slowly spreading stems of European wild ginger are clothed with glossy green, heart-shaped foliage. Asarum europaeum forms a great evergreen background for specimen trees is great in the woodland garden among ferns and hostas. In very early spring, the tiny maroon flowers are produced just below the foliage...we won't tell if you peek. Our offering of Asarum europaeum represents seed grown plants that have shown a much greater tolerance for heat than the clones grown widely in the Northeast US.
