Asarum caudigerum 'Tan Yuan'

This form of the Chinese Asarum caudigerum is different from the other form we offer with flowers that are more tan instead of dark purple, hence the name Asarum 'Tan Yuan'. Asarum caudigerum is a sparsely speckled green evergreen leaf species, whose foliage is covered with tiny hairs. Asarum caudigerum 'Tan Yuan' makes a slowly spreading patch to 2' wide in 5 years. Beneath the foliage, starting in late January (NC), are mustache-like three-lobed tan flowers with flecks of purple. Our offerings are seed grown from our parent plant in the garden.
