(aka: Hexastylis arifolia) Asarum arifolium 'St. Clair' is a unique clonal selection of the US native Asarum arifolium that we discovered in 2006 in St. Clair County, Alabama. Asarum 'St. Clair' forms a very vigorous, 6" tall x 1' wide clump of anise-scented, heart-shaped, evergreen foliage, highlighted by prominent silver leaf patterns. The floral show, which is tucked under the leaves, starting for us in February, is one of the most dense we've seen on any of our native wild gingers...like little purple piglets at the feeding trough. Our offering is from garden divisions of our original find.
