We were quite impressed when we first saw Artemisia 'Silver Lining', a Hans Hansen hybrid of two North American species, the clumping Alaska native Artemisia stelleriana and the stoloniferous Western US Artemisia ludoviciana. The forced union resulted in a plant with the best traits of both; the durability and summer heat tolerance of Artemisia ludoviciana and the clumping trait of Artemisia stelleriana. Artemisia 'Silver Lining' forms a non-stoloniferous 15" tall x 3' wide, winter deciduous groundcover with cutleaf silver foliage. Best results will be in average to dry soils, either sandy or clay.
