Agave utahensis ssp. kaibabensis is a very slow growing, but very hardy century plant from the 9,000' elevation Kaibab Plateau, along the North Rim of the Grand Canyon (Northern Arizona along the Utah border). The solitary rosettes of Agave utahensis ssp. kaibabensis are the largest in the species, eventually (probably during your grandkids old aga) reaching 2' tall x 3' wide. The deeply-guttered grey-green upright, rigid leaves are tipped with ridiculously long papery spines. Agave utahensis is one of the most water sensitive species, so plant it where drainage is near perfect and plants are sheltered from heavy rain downpours. Hopefully before you die, you will enjoy the 8' flower spikes of incredible clouds of tiny golden flowers.
