Agave x flexidigera 'Durango Fandango' is a Plant Delights Nursery introduction created by our Volunteer Agave Curator, Mike Papay. He crossed a Greg Starr collection, Agave schidigera 'Durango Delight', with pollen from Agave flexispina. With both parents winter hardy here in Zone 7b, the hybrid should have similar hardiness. As small plants, the seed strain Agave 'Durango Fandango' shows amazing, tiny, burgundy-red teeth on the sides of the glaucous green leaves. With both parents less than 2' tall x 3' wide, we expect a similar size for these seed-grown plants when they mature.
