(syn: Dryopteris spinulosa) Dryopteris carthusiana can be found in swamps and moist woodlands around the world including areas from Maine to Alabama in the US. With such a huge range, you can bet Dryopteris carthusiana has learned to be very adaptable. In our trials, we have found it exceptional in dry soils under giant deciduous redwoods. The fine textured, arching green fronds can reach 2-3' long, forming an easy-to-grow, 3' wide, semi-evergreen clump.
