(S. Brigham 06) I met the amazing Hemerocallis 'Striped Fantastic' in 2004 when I visited Buena Creek Gardens in California. The owner at the time, plantsman Steve Brigham, had developed a stunning, perfectly-edged mutation of the tetraploid daylily, Hemerocallis 'Kate Carpenter'. I left with plant lust in my heart. It would take another nine years to acquire the plant, and another five to have enough to introduce to the world in 2018. For us, Hemerocallis 'Striped Fantastic' forms a compact, very slowly multiplying clump of thick green foliage, edged with a stunning creamy border. The fans of foliage are adorned with 2' tall stalks of ruffled yellow flowers with a peach infusion and a white stripe down the center of each petal (from mid-May into July in NC). Supplies are very limited on this truly special variegated daylily.
