Epimedium grandiflorum 'Circe', a 2006 Darrell Probst introduction, and a winner of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, is one of our highest rated of the deciduous Epimedium grandiflorum cultivars. Epimedium 'Circe' is a heavy-flowering, very early fairy wing (late March in NC) that form a tight 1' tall clump that arches out to 30". The new foliage emerges bronze before aging to camouflage green. The clumps are topped with 1' tall flower spikes, ending in clusters of 1.25" wide, vivid violet flowers with white-tipped spurs…a much improved, heavier-flowering form of Epimedium 'Yubae'.
