We have finally found another veronica that will withstand our hot, muggy summers, and it's a stunning one at that...despite being native in the dry, alkaline meadows of the Caucasus. Veronica spicata 'Heidekind' makes a low-growing, tight, 1' wide clump of small green foliage, topped in May with 8-10" spikes of intensely pink-violet flowers. If the old flowers are removed, we see occasional summer rebloom as well. Good drainage and air circulation are always important with Veronica spicata.
