Ulmus parvifolia 'Variegata'

This treasure is certainly the most asked-about tree at our Spring Open House. The first plant released (1qt) in Fall 2004 sold at the International Plant Propagators meeting for $140. This small/medium tree is adorned with small leaves, heavily speckled with white and dark green. We have found the growth rate to be between 4' and 6' per year when the plant is established and actively growing. As the plants age, the bark begins to peel, revealing a beautiful underlying tan-and-brown color pattern. The mature height should be in the range of 30' with a similar spread. We grow this from seed, so each plant is slightly different.
