We sure opened a can of worms when we discovered what initially seemed to be a disjunct population of Trillium ludovicianum in Hamilton County, Tennessee in 1998, growing alongside Trillium cuneatum. As we studied them in the wild, we found them to be earlier flowering, much taller (14" vs. 10") and with much longer and more blunt tipped petals than T. cuneatum. Publication of this as a new species was delayed when DNA testing showed several new species lumped in the "cuneatum" complex in surrounding states that first needs to be resolved. Our offerings are flowering-sized nursery seed-grown plants from our original collection. These are in very limited supply, so don't delay.
