To our knowledge, this is the first commercialized unillium. So, what is a unillium? Trillium 'Solitary Man' is a genetic mutation of the rare Trillium oostingii, that only produces simple, non-trifoliate 2-3" round leaves and no flowers. From a single division of a large clump in situ, we have grown this odd, but surprisingly vigorous mutant since 2005, and in that time, it's made a lovely 1" tallx 15" wide clump due to a branched rhizome that seems to grow in circles. Each leaf is a lovely silver green, adorned with dark olive blotching. We are pleased to finally share this botanically bizarre, rock garden-sized selection with the gardening world.
