The stunning Trillium erectum occurs in rich, moist woodlands from Canada south to Georgia. Trillium erectum emerges in mid-April (NC), forming a 6" tall stalk, topped with three green leaves. Soon after the leaves unfurl, the bright red, quarter-sized flowers pop up from under the leaf to stand perched atop the green foliage. In time, Trillium erectum makes a stunning large clump in the woodland garden.
