Sold in the trade as T. formosana, which is a running species, this hybrid toad lily is actually a cross between T. hirta and T. formosana that comes true from seed. Even though it was the product of unprotected sex, this clumping toad lily has been a consistent star in our fall garden. The 3" long leaves clasp the nearly 3' tall stems. In late summer and early fall, branches of 1" flowers, white with dark purple freckles, top the plant... Spectacular!
