Tricyrtis 'Crow Leaf' is a fascinating dwarf toad lily from Japan, which we originally obtained as a selection of Tricyrtis macropoda. Based on our trials, it is most likely a Tricyrtis macropoda hybrid. The long, narrow leaves have dark black green spots so large, they nearly consume the entire leaf, giving the plant a black appearance. Our oldest plants mature at a whopping 10" tall. The early October borne white flowers, spotted purple and highlighted by creamy yellow anthers are 1-3 in number, and emerge from the terminal growing point. This is a delightful addition to the rock garden, where its diminutive size won't be lost.
