Trautvetteria nervata 'Swamp Queen' is a 2026 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of a Zac Hil/Jeremy Schmidt collection from Burke County, Georgia, of the virtually unknown, southeastern US native. Sadly, most authorities still lump this with the smaller, and much more difficult to grow Trautvetteria caroliniensis. Trautvetteria nervata, an Actaea cousin, is one of the finest perennials we grow, emerging first as a basal clump of cut-leaf foliage. The 3' tall flowering stalks of this bog denizen emerge almost immediately, and open for us in mid-June with substantial, dense umbels of white baneberry-like flowers, creating a superb show. Our trials show it also survives in moist, non-boggy conditions.
