Trachycarpus fortunei 'Tesan' is a somewhat mysterious palm introduction, whose journey began when seed of a particularly robust, winter hardy windmill palm were sent to a nursery in Spain, where they were grown out and further distributed. Reportedly, this palm has been through -4 degrees F without damage. It differs from typical Trachycarpus fortunei with a much thicker, more hairy trunk, much faster growth, shorter, blunt-tip leaflets, and larger waxy coated seed. Reportedly, they also mature at 30', which is shorter than typical windmill palms. The quantities we have to share are very limited.
