Trachycarpus fortunei 'Dwarf Delights' is a 2023 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction that originated as seedlings of the winter hardy Trachycarpus fortunei 'Charlotte', which we subjected to ploidy manipulation in the late 1990s. From the treatment survivors, we selected the most dwarf plants, which were planted in ground in 1999. In 20 years, they have reached only 15' - 18' tall, while their same age siblings growing nearby are all 30' - 35' tall. We have no idea if the offspring will stay dwarf or not, but we thought we'd make these available if you'd like to experiment along with us.
