This Texas/Arizona native is one of the showiest summer flowering plants we grow. This 2023 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of a Patrick McMillan collection comes from a population in Texas. Not only is this short-lived, southwestern US native, reseeding perennial great in flower, but the Native American Navajo tribe also used it as a hallucinogen for people who want to dream of being chased by deer....we are not making this up! Good drainage is the key for success.
