Sporobolus maximus 'Salta Splendor'
Salta Giant Dropseed
Item #: 5601
Zones: 7b to 10b

Height: 96" tall
Origin: Argentina
Pot Size: 3.5" pot (24 fl. oz/0.7 L)
We first met the amazing Sporobolus maximus 'Salta Splendor' on a 2002 trip to Northern Argentina, and was instantly in love. There it grew native, only in a narrow band around lakeshores with the native pampas grass (Cortaderia selloana). While giant dropseed lives fine for us in the southeast US, it never thrives or flowers like it does in more desert climates. This stunning, tightly-clumping ornamental grass tops out at 8' tall when in plume, starting in early August. If you live in such a desert climate, and have an area with slightly moist soils, we think you'll be thrilled at this amazing ornamental grass.
