Sinningia Insanity! We are pleased to introduce a truly amazing hardy gesneriad to cultivation. Sinningia 'Cherries Jubilee' is our 2018 introduction...a seedling selection from a John Farina cross. From a giant underground tuber, the stalks emerge in spring, forming a giant 4' tall x 7' wide mass. By early June, a mature clump is composed of up to 200 stalks, with over 75 flowers on each stalk...that's 15,000 flowers open at once...yes, we counted. The tubular cherry red flowers dangle from the last 28" of the arching burgundy red stalks from early June into September (NC)...a hummingbird feast. Full to part sun and a well-drained site are perfect for this easy-to-grow, hardy flowering machine.
