(aka: Sarracenia x stevensii) Sarracenia 'Dutch Stevens' is a hybrid clone from Holland involving two US species, the white-topped Sarracenia leucophylla and the shorter Sarracenia rubra ssp. gulfensis. This RHS Award of Garden Merit winner is often sold as Sarracenia x stevensii, but this name has already been used, and is a synonym of Sarracenia x catesbiae. Sarracenia 'Dutch Stevens' produces a nice show of white-veined, red flushed pitchers in spring, but even more are produced in the fall pitcher season. The plants, which are usually more pitcheriferous than straight Sarracenia leucophylla, reach 18" in height, and resemble a shorter Sarracenia 'Daina's Delight'. Just prior to pitcher emergence in spring, you'll enjoy the dazzling red, flying-saucer like flowers.
