Sarracenia 'Dixie Lace' is one of the first pitcher plant introductions from Larry Mellichamp and the late Rob Gardner of NC. This vigorous hybrid, from a cross of (Sarracenia leucophylla x Sarracenia alabamensis ssp. wherryi) x (Sarracenia psittacina x Sarracenia purpurea) produces a continuous array of new pitchers through the season, even into November (NC). Each butterscotch pitcher with dramatic red veining is held at a 45 degree angle, producing a 1' tall x 18" wide clump. In April and May, the clumps are topped with 18" tall stalks of rich maroon-red flying saucer-like flowers... wonderful for damp, sunny sites.
